چکیده

Abstract To enhance the production of medium-heavy, neutron-rich nuclei, and to facilitate measurements independent yields neutron-induced fission, a proton-to-neutron converter dedicated ion guide for fission have been developed IGISOL facility at University Jyväskylä. The holds fissionable targets, products emerging from targets are collected in helium gas transported downstream experimental stations. A computer model, based on combination MCNPX modeling neutron production, code GEF, GEANT4 transport products, was developed. model will be used improve setup with respect collection products. In this paper we benchmark by comparing simulations measurement which were implanted foils located different positions guide. addition, activation titanium foil uranium studied. result suggests that flux high-energy part spectrum is overestimated approximately 40 $$\%$$ % . However, transportation agrees experiment within 10 Furthermore, simulated achieves almost perfect agreement measurement. Hence, conclude after correction flux, well suited optimization studies future designs.

A Monte Carlo simulation technique for assessment of earthquake-induced displacement of slopes

The dynamic response of slopes against earthquake is commonly characterized by the earthquake-induced displacement of slope (EIDS). The EIDS value is a function of several variables such as the material properties, slope geometry, and earthquake acceleration. This work is aimed at the prediction of EIDS using the Monte Carlo simulation method (MCSM). Hence, the parameters height, unit specific ...

Design and Simulation of Photoneutron Source by MCNPX Monte Carlo Code for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

Introduction Electron linear accelerator (LINAC) can be used for neutron production in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). BNCT is an external radiotherapeutic method for the treatment of some cancers. In this study, Varian 2300 C/D LINAC was simulated as an electron accelerator-based photoneutron source to provide a suitable neutron flux for BNCT. Materials and Methods Photoneutron sources w...

A New Approach for Monte Carlo Simulation of RAFT Polymerization

In this work, based on experimental observations and exact theoretical predictions, the kinetic scheme of RAFT polymerization is extended to a wider range of reactions such as irreversible intermediate radical terminations and reversible transfer reactions. The reactions which have been labeled as kinetic scheme are the more probable existing reactions as the theoretical point of view. The ...

High Energy Neutron Scattering Benchmark of Monte Carlo Computations

Neutron scattering measurements are made using an array of proton recoil detectors surrounding a scattering sample, which is struck by a beam of neutrons. Detector signals are analyzed using a state of the art digital data acquisition system, and these measurements are compared with the expected detector response based on Monte Carlo simulation of the scattering experiment using existing nuclea...

A Monte Carlo study of SPECT in boron neutron capture therapy for a heterogeneous human phantom

Background: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy combining biochemical targeting with neutron irradiation. However, monitoring the boron distribution is a fundamental problem in BNCT. Prompt gamma rays emitted by boron capture reaction can be used to address the issue. Materials and Methods: The general-purpose Monte Carlo toolkits Geant4 and MCNP were used for the simu...
